Do I need my own equipment?

Mats can be provided, I do encourage you to have your own yoga mat if you become a regular student. Bring a bottle of water to sip on and a blanket/cover for relaxation at the end, if you feel the cold.

What if can’t do all the postures?

“If you can breathe, you can do yoga.”
Yoga is for everyone regardless of ability. Postures and sequences can be adapted according to a person’s age, gender and health. There is no rule that you have to do all the postures to obtain the benefits of yoga.
Discuss with your teacher what is right for you.

What if I’ve never done yoga before?

That is not a problem, we have all been a beginner at some point.
The teacher will make sure you feel comfortable , the main point to do it at your own pace and own level. There are beginner courses throughout the year which are also a very good option.

I want to be more flexible, is this possible, how long does it take?

Yes it is possible, though it takes time. Yoga starts with the breath and through the breath brings flexibility. You need to be gentle and patient, do not over stretch, be where you are now. The breath will guide your postures safely and with practise you will notice change.

Will yoga help my anxiety and depression?

Yoga postures help ease anxiety by releasing tension in the body and reducing stress hormones, as well as increasing serotonin. Conscious breathing calms the mind and nervous system. Yoga makes you feel more balanced with less emotional ups and down, giving you more resilience to deal with life.

What if I am a big person and overweight, will I be able to do yoga?

Weight is not an indication whether you can do yoga or not. Yoga is adapted to you, not you to the yoga.

Will yoga help me to lose weight ?

Yoga helps you address all areas of your life. With regard to food you become more in tune with your body and aware of what diet suits you. As well, yoga has physical benefits such as toning the body, greater strength, improved posture and better circulation.

Will yoga help my injury or illness?

Yoga tributes to preventing and treating medical conditions by lowing the heart rate and blood pressure and Increasing circulation throughout the body, which improves the oxygen supply to the brain and organs. Yoga also improves bone density and strengthens the muscles. It stimulates lymphatic drainage which in turn boosts the immune system.
